Shoe packaging design. Art directed by Abbott Miller, 2008

A shoe package design for JJ Walker, a shoe product line parterning with the company Patagram. JJWalker promots a modernm, healty city walking life style around the urban city, which is the essence theory of great urban renewal nrbanist, writer, and activist Jan Jacobs.

The shoe product from Patagonia has a really unique feather, which was designed for
promoting "city life", it has a separate layers and can be ware with separatly. So I am appying this uniqueniss of the shoe to grafting the thoery of Jane Jabobs city planing. I am applying a "Grafting diagram" to represent both the ideas and the product simultaneously and progressively.

In order to emphasis the meaning of jj "WALKERS", I am applying a walking "red path" to wrap around the city block as a concept.
The closed box illuminates a single block inside of the urban city, the single red path is a metaphor icon of single costomer's urban life inside of the city. And once the boxed opened the inner overlapping pathes represent more and more people's path appreare around the city block, which extands to a whole new urban life style trendency.

The box uses a sleeve to contain a internal "box". In this case the sleeve is two parts which originally reveals just the "path" of the purchaser. Upon opening, one sees how many people's paths can become connected on a daily walking adventure.
